Music Teacher - Piano, Voice

We are searching for a talented and caring piano teacher and voice teacher to join our music academy. In addition to teaching, the teacher’s responsibilities include evaluating pupils’ needs, being prepared to help piano students achieve their piano goals, handling basic admin duties – maintaining attendance, lesson notes, and communicating to students or students' parents. You will prepare students for recitals, competitions, or other performance opportunities.

To be successful as a teacher, you should demonstrate excellent instructional skills with knowledge of common method books, be patient, flexible, and punctual. Outstanding candidates are lifelong learners who are always improving their skills and are comfortable using technology such as Zoom or Facetime with a mobile device and can use online application for basic administrative tasks. Training is provided for the software tools we use to administer the lessons.
This is a directly hired, W-2 employee position.

Responsibilities:

• Determining student goals and objectives, and discussing lesson details with them.
• Structuring individual lessons based on client preferences and goals.
• Providing students with appropriate materials and resources.
• Showing up on time for scheduled practice sessions, recitals, competitions, and other events.
• Teaching music theory, helping students sharpen their sight-reading, memorization, improvising techniques, or other student-defined goals.
• Willingness to use digital pianos and other technology in lessons.
• Motivating students, especially when they are struggling and progress is slow.
• Providing constructive feedback and adjusting lessons as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in piano/voice performance preferred, but a degree in a music related field with core instrument of piano/voice is also okay. Students studying for undergraduate degree are welcome to apply.
• Availability to teach at least 8 hours per week; two evenings a week minimum, but more preferred; core hours 4pm to 8pm.
• Strong musical ability, as well as proven skills and knowledge.
• Previous experience as a music teacher preferred.
• Patience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong motivational skills.
• Willingness to teach online/virtual lessons.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
