Job Description
The Senior Estimator Team lead is responsible for managing one or more estimates for large scale Nuclear projects including Decommissioning, Maintenance and Construction. The selected candidate will independently develop, assess, and maintain quality-controlled project estimates for review by the Project Manager(s), Director(s), and Executive(s), as well as oversee and mentor junior level estimators.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Completion of conceptual estimates utilizing minimal available information
· Preparation of Basis of Estimates
· Takeoffs
· Contact with Subcontractors for real time pricing
· Lead estimating activities for Schematic and Design Development Estimates
· Prepares the Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction or demolition
· Preparation of Bid Packages including Scope Definition
· Procurement of Subcontracts and Materials
· Lead Descope Discussions with Qualified Bidders
· Have the ability to communicate with staff in an effective manner.
· Have a hands on knowledge of the industry and the laws and codes which govern.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Minimum of 5 years estimating experience on heavy commercial/industrial demolition and/or nuclear plant decommissioning/construction projects of similar nature
· A thorough understanding of the preconstruction and construction process including all disciplines, such as civil, structural, exterior envelope, interior construction, and MEP.
· A solid background and knowledge of conceptual estimating
· Familiarity with the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) Classification System
· Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written) for integration with management, staff, subcontractors and vendors, Owners, and design professionals
· Project planning experience.
· Ability to read and understand construction drawings & specifications.
· Experience within the Nuclear Industry and/or union labor is not required but is a plus
· Ability to schedule and manage tasks effectively
