About the Job

The finance and accounting team at Jirav strives to provide valuable information to our stakeholders through financial performance insights, as well as accurate and timely financial reporting. The foundation of our team is built on trust, attention to detail, analytics, research, and problem solving.

We are hiring for the position of Controller to own a key piece of Jirav's financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting. You will be responsible for the execution of the overall accounting function, maintaining accurate and complete fiscal records, establishing and maintaining appropriate controls and procedures, financial system infrastructure, and preparing internal and external financial reporting for the organization in compliance with reporting requirements and operating procedures. This role will be highly integrated with your business counterparts and will have visibility to the CEO, the executive team, our investors & board, and be an integral member of the Jirav team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage month-end close process, including preparation of all balance sheet and revenue reconciliations.
  • Maintain organized schedules and workpapers as well as a documented system of accounting policies and procedures including recognition policies such as revenue and expense classification; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Continually evaluate opportunities to drive greater efficiencies and effectiveness in operational processes/systems and the accounting close process to provide excellent employee experience and reduce business risk.
  • Produce Monthly, Quarterly and Annual financial statements that are accurate and delivered in a timely fashion.
  • Partner closely with leadership on monthly metrics reporting, investor/lender reporting and board package preparation. This includes maintaining and building Jirav’s financial model as well as analyzing and providing monthly commentary on variances to forecast.
  • Oversee treasury operations to ensure effective cash management and compliance with lending arrangements.
  • Prepare and oversee the management of our payroll operations and ensure governmental filings are handled on a timely basis.
  • Manage AR collections and bill payment processes.
  • Coordinate with counsel and advisors to assist with contract negotiations and fulfillment; manage intercompany agreements and transactions in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements and tax filings.
  • Manage staff accountants, bookkeepers, AR, AP personnel (either outsourced or in-house).
  • Work with third parties to provide necessary information for tax preparation or the annual audit, when applicable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, MBA preferred
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience, ideally a mix of public accounting, growth stage and public company experience, specifically in the SaaS industry
  • Active CPA status is preferred
  • Familiarity with various accounting, payroll, CRM & other business software programs and an aptitude to learn new technologies (QBO, Bill.com, Chargebee, TriNet, Expensify, Avalara, Hubspot)
  • Ability to prioritize business needs, adapt to rapid business changes, meet tight deadlines, and communicate effectively across the organization
  • Motivated by taking on challenges that will help build and scale a quickly growing company
  • Knowledge and understanding of SaaS-specific accounting rules, regulations, best practices, and key performance metrics
  • Experience managing payroll processing and treasury operations
  • Knowledge of tax laws and GAAP
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
