JJ Powell, Inc., is a family owned and operated business that is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our Hometown Originals team as a Senior Staff Accountant. This position provides assistance to the Controller in overseeing the accounting department to ensure all responsibilities within the department are completed accurately and as scheduled by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors.
The following are essential functions of the job:
· Perform timely balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
· Perform month and year end close on a timely basis
· Manage all aspects of the general ledger
· Analyze and report income and expense variances
· Prepare and consolidate financial statements
· Assist in preparation for the annual audit
· Work closely with the business units to prepare monthly budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and annual budgets
· Responsible for reporting weekly sales meeting data
· Participate in asset/liability management
· Establish and maintain internal controls
· Various duties related to taxes, general ledger, and accounting sub-systems
Education
· Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting preferred
· 2 or more years experience preferred
· Equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job will be considered
