Position Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise through various areas such as compensation & benefits, performance management, learning and development, employee engagement, employee and labor relations, and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between employees and management. This role will serve as primary point of contact to support all human resource departmental functions during the absence of the HR Manager. This role is onsite.
Responsibilities
Assist in employee relations matter by investigating, monitoring, and resolving employee situations from origin to conclusion while minimizing organizational risk
Provides effective guidance and coaching to managers/supervisors, relating to employee concerns and mediate difficult interactions escalating to HR Manager when needed
Support and plans extensive employee engagement and recognition programs
Document, investigate, and when necessary, elevate reports of unethical behavior
Partner with hiring manager to determine staffing needs; create and update job descriptions, including Physical Demands Analysis
Supports with the recruitment process to improve hiring efficiency; including utilizing the GPS system to post, recruit, interview, and facilitates the hiring of qualified candidates for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Handles all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance
Assists with the performance management system (PATH) that includes performance development plans and employee performance reviews
Assist in administering appropriate training opportunities for employees to further their development and partner with HR Manager to execute Learning & Development plan
Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, maintaining minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
Responsible for maintaining data accuracy with HR system by compiling monthly data analytics
Assists in HR related external and internal audits
Support the Human Resource department in planning and carrying out company events, including birthday celebrations, holiday parties, and recognition events
Supports committees on wellness, health and safety, and culture, as needed
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; performance and talent management; recognition, and morale.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related subject and minimum 5 years of recent and relevant experience in Human Resources with a broad knowledge of all HR disciplines.
Demonstrated experience applying sound judgement and HR knowledge to resolve a wide range of complex matters.
Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and other government compliance regulations.
Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
Proven knowledge of and ability to utilize investigation techniques.
Ability to navigate difficult situations and come to a win-win solution.
Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and government laws.
Strong knowledge in wage and labor laws, performance management, labor unions, compensation and benefits, and training & development.
Experience in the administration of payroll and other human resource programs.
Knowledge with worker’s compensation, payroll, and collective bargaining agreements.
Strong skills in IT, written and verbal communication, and relationship management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SAP and HRIS systems strongly preferred.
PHR or SPHR or similar certification strongly preferred.
Experience in unionized manufacturing facility preferred.
High level of professionalism and confidentiality is required.
