What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Assistant position at JMA Solutions?

DESCRIPTION: JMA Solutions has an opportunity available for a Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative support to HR Manager and team in the areas of HR/Benefits administration, recruiting efforts, and assistance to the HR function as required. This position is located in Washington, DC.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for maintaining compliant personnel records and benefit files
- Assist with New Hire Orientation/On-boarding process to include benefit enrollment
- Assist with recruiting efforts to include: phone screens, scheduling interviews, reference checks, FAA VAP process, and tracking affirmative action database
- Assist with contract and proposal recruiting efforts
- Provide phone coverage for Receptionist at front desk as needed
- Handle HR administration for employee inquiries/request as assigned and required
- Assist with open enrollment efforts
- Assist with annual performance evaluations
- Review HR mail for (filing or immediate action notices)
- Assist and prepares correspondence
- Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains book is current
- Knowledge with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations required
- Familiarity with E-verify, DC New Hire, Smart Benefits, and Deltek, and HRIS Systems
- Assist with corporate employee/management trainings such as Harassment, Ethics, and Leadership etc.
- Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the Active/Term I-9 documents, E-verify and DC Hire Reporting
- Assist with planning corporate events and activities as needed
- Files papers and documents into appropriate employee folders
- Makes photocopies, faxes documents and performs other clerical functions
- Assist HR Team with research/special projects and other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills:
- Critical thinking, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Superior verbal/written and presentation skills
- Good punctuation, spelling, grammar and attention to detail a must
- Member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) a plus
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in HR administration and recruiting desired.
