JMT Wild is dedicated to the conservation of the wilderness, wildlife, and watersheds along the high Sierra Nevada crest defined by the John Muir Trail (est. 1915). Our mission is to restore and conserve the meadow ecosystems and riparian habitat of the JMT corridor in light of steeply increasing recreational use compounded by the effects of climate change. The region is roughly 20 miles wide and 220 miles north-to-south, running from Yosemite Valley to Mt. Whitney, and includes over 390 miles of trails and 2.8 million acres of surrounding wilderness.
Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant to support our finance and administrative team. This individual will be responsible for daily accounts payable and accounts receivable processing in QuickBooks and handle all expense approval forms, including reviewing forms for accuracy, submitting to the correct approver, and processing for payment. Additionally, this position will be responsible for general office management duties and provide administrative support to the Executive Director. A comprehensive list of responsibilities is included below. We are seeking a dynamic and flexible individual, capable of handling a variety of tasks on any given day.
Commitment
Full time, regular exempt employee. Hybrid work environment. This position will be required to attend our field office in Truckee, CA three days per week (T, W & Th) as weather and traffic allow. We also have several in-office meetings that are required, some that are multi-day.
Compensation
$70,000 to $80,000 annual compensation depending on experience and qualifications. 100% employer-paid benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision. Participation in state retirement plan. Paid time off including Vacation leave, Sick leave, and 14-paid holidays, including a winter break with Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day off.
Reporting
Direct report to the Director of Finance, with an indirect report to the Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Support:
· Handle general ledger entries/day-to-day bookkeeping.
· Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in QuickBooks.
· Monthly credit card reconciliations.
· Review expense and purchase approval forms for accuracy ensuring expenses are properly allocated to grant projects and route approval forms for signature through DocuSign.
· Maintain accurate project contract records and spreadsheet tracking in SharePoint in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
· Assist in financial audits and grant reporting as needed.
Administrative & Office Support:
· Manage office supplies, office equipment, and facilities to ensure a productive work environment.
· Collect and sort incoming mail.
· Maintain a clean, presentable workspace at our Truckee Field Office.
o Light cleaning duties including emptying waste bins, vacuuming once per week, and tidying up the office space as needed.
o Water office plants
o Coordinate with outsourced cleaners to ensure monthly cleaning services are scheduled and executed.
· Coordinate with property manager for all office maintenance and facilities requests.
· Provide administrative support for the project team members, including travel planning, hotel reservations, and expense reimbursements.
President/Executive Director Support:
· Assist with supporting the President with Board and Committee meetings and interactions.
· Work with President on Board Agendas, Board Books and the processing for signatures of Board Minutes and Resolutions.
· Provide for filing of Board materials, final Board Minutes, Resolutions and Board materials on SharePoint.
· Work with a scheduling app to schedule Board and Committee meetings and provide follow up.
· Assist in the coordination of events and meetings, including logistical arrangements and preparation of materials as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· College degree business administration, or related field preferred.
· Previous experience within a nonprofit setting preferred.
· Understanding of financial principles and experience bookkeeping.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, including SharePoint.
· Proficiency in QuickBooks and DocuSign required.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

· Located in Truckee, CA or the surrounding area.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· This position typically works in an office environment but may accommodate remote work flexibility.
· Standard working hours apply, with occasional overtime during peak recruitment periods or special projects.
