Major Function:
As our Accounting Manager, you will serve as the backbone of our financial operations, overseeing all accounting-related activities with precision and expertise. From finance and budgeting to project accounting and payroll, you'll lead a team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance. Reporting to the Finance Director, you'll play a key role in driving strategic decision-making and ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting processes.

Illustrative Duties:

• Collaborate with the Finance Director to prepare comprehensive financial reports, budgets, and capital improvement programs.
• Facilitate external audits by coordinating audit work papers and providing support to auditors throughout the audit process.
• Manage the fixed assets system, including depreciation schedules and vehicle registration.
• Administer grants, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with audit requirements.
• Monitor cash flow and reconcile City investments, preparing journal entries and financial statements as needed.
• Develop and implement internal accounting controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Prepare complex analytical reviews and evaluations to support management decision-making.
• Complete government survey forms and other regulatory reports to meet state and federal requirements.
• Oversee capital projects and grant-funded initiatives, monitoring progress and payment schedules.
• Serve as acting Finance Director in their absence, providing leadership and guidance to staff as needed.

Job Details

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

• In-depth understanding of governmental accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and internal controls, with experience in municipal budgeting and capital improvements programs.
• Familiarity with Florida Uniform Accounting System, TRIM requirements, and GFOA standards.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret fiscal records and communicate complex financial information effectively.
• Expertise in computerized accounting systems and standard software applications, including Word and Excel.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and fiscal operations, including two years of supervisory experience.
• Preference given to candidates with CPA, CPFO, or CGFO certification.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
