Job Details
As an Accounts Receivable Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing the financial activities related to accounts receivable. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and maintain accurate and timely billing, collections, and cash flow processes. You will work closely with attorneys, clients, and internal teams to ensure efficient billing practices and effective collection procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Billing and Invoicing:
- Generate accurate and timely client invoices based on pre-determined billing schedules.
- Review and verify billing entries for accuracy, including time and expense entries.
- Ensure compliance with client-specific billing guidelines and legal requirements.
- Monitor accounts receivable balances and aging reports.
- Collaborate with attorneys to resolve billing and collection issues and facilitate timely payment resolutions.
- Reconcile payments received and allocate them accurately to client accounts.
- Prepare regular reports on accounts receivable status, aging, and collection progress.
- Forecast cash flow and provide insights and recommendations for improved financial performance.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining billing and collection processes.
- Implement best practices and standardized procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on relevant industry regulations and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Utilize accounting software and other tools effectively to manage accounts receivable tasks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field (a Juris Doctor degree is a plus).
- Previous experience in accounts receivable management, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Solid understanding of billing and collection procedures in the legal industry.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, attorneys, and internal teams.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of legal billing software (e.g., Elite, Aderant) is preferred.
- Familiarity with legal billing guidelines and industry standards.
