Ideal candidate should have the following:
- BSME required
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in the state of North Carolina is required
- Minimum of five years of engineering experience in Controls and HVAC industry. Demonstrated understanding of controls, HVAC equipment, contract administration, and HVAC systems.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- MS Office
- AutoCAD
- Trane TRACE system design
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in the state of North Carolina is required
- Professional Engineering License in the state of South Carolina is preferred but not required

Job Details
- Has a strong working knowledge of HVAC equipment, controls, chilled, condenser, and hot water piping systems, steam and condensate systems, air distribution, fire dampers, ventilation fans, insulation, electrical, and test and balance.
- Leads a team responsible for preparing conceptual project designs and related documentation.
- Leads a team that has the ability to design and propose new systems. This includes equipment change outs and complete new system, including ductwork, new venting, new air distribution, controls, electrical, and piping layouts.
- Interacts with the Estimators, Project Managers, and others as required - including directly with customers - identify HVAC and process deficiencies in order to develop effective solutions to customers' problems.
- Has overall responsibility for the production and delivery of detailed installation drawings and documentation of ductwork, piping systems, controls and electrical components.
- Works with customers to provide support and consultation regarding the implementation of cost saving measures and, when applicable, the application for rebates.
- Provides oversight and manages the turnover from sales to engineering for all contracting projects including design build projects, professional services projects, and equipment change out projects.
- Mentors and coaches all Associates on Engineering, Development, and Preconstruction teams, with emphasis on creating and executing individual development plans for early-to-mid career Associates.
- Maintains quality standards by visiting job sites and meeting with customers and other vendors as needed.
- Understands industry changes and responds to alternative strategies to maintain competitive advantages in our marketplace.
- Supports all departments and stakeholders with timely and competitive estimates.
- Responds to customer inquiries, complaints and special requests.
- Interacts with other business units on warranties, contracts and other project-related issues.
- Reviews engineered plans and responsible for providing point-to-point control wiring diagrams for field use, as well as ensuring a written sequence of operations is provided that can be utilized for programming by field technicians.
- Facilitates and when necessary participates in a review of the control and mechanical drawings for all projects, as well as pre-fabrication drawings completed by the mechanical designer for the shop and communicates with the shop foreman.
- Oversees the organization and cataloging of engineering drawings for future use.
