Primary Responsibilities
The Maintenance Manager is required to manage daily operations through the Maintenance Lead position that directly reports to the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Manager must chronically position the operations departments to be capable of delivering scheduled throughput requirements within budgeted unit cost requirements. The position must precisely manage both human and maintenance asset capacity to secure utilization of all intra- and inter-departmental performance considerations are optimized.
The Maintenance Manager must receive the rolling production plan from Sales Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) and pre-emptively position Maintenance Leads, Technicians, and equipment to be in a state of readiness prior to shift starts to produce directly to the 48 hour locked schedule requirements.
The Maintenance Manager is required to provide technical and managerial leadership through the development and application of predictive and preventive maintenance methods, scheduling, and consistent review of work order registry to chronically maximize machine reliability, availability, and up time.
The Maintenance Manager must secure the key meetings between Maintenance Leads, Technicians and supported organizations are executing to required levels performance ultimately delivering actionable performance outcomes.
The Maintenance Manager is required to maintain partnership compliance with internal functions to include the Scheduling, Production, Quality, Accounting, and Sales / Customer Relations to meet locked schedule expectations.
The Maintenance Manager must provide support to the Production, Quality, Accounting, and Sales / Customer Relations Departments through the development and maintenance of accurate and timely maintenance standards and results.
The Maintenance Manager is required to track compliance for the departmental budget, controlling key cost elements to obtain budget spending expectations.
The Maintenance Manager is required to organize and review relevant training and development sessions with Maintenance Leads and Technicians.
The Maintenance Manager is required to drive cross training and competency development initiatives for employee development within the Maintenance Department.
The Maintenance Manager is accountable for assets within the Maintenance Department to include primary and secondary assets, supplies and spare parts.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Management or a related field is required.
7 years of progressive maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production or related industry; 3 years in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role. Previous maintenance management experience is additive.
Demonstrates exceptional action orientation toward customer-service with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
Demonstrates strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to consolidate data into concise and logically organized executive-ready presentations and reports.
Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
Teaches and coaches workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Develops and delivers a program to procure, organize and maintain recommended spare parts.
Ensures all maintenance work is properly tracked and documented in a CMMS system.
Develops and delivers a Preventive Maintenance system to improve machine uptime.
Uses a production schedule to estimate worker hour requirements for completion of mechanical and electrical job assignments.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet locked production schedule requirements.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Prepares maintenance budget to include major expense planning, emergency and routine maintenance, preventive maintenance and machine lubrication, to ensure achievement of budget goals through regular review and reporting.
