Job Details
Responsibilities:
Develop and drive optical system architecture, concept & detailed design, prototyping and performance entitlement validation per the customer and marketing requirement & specs
Used knowledge of C/C and/or ZEMAX to add new design and analysis capabilities.
Measure all optical performance attributes of lens and camera modules including MTF, FOV, F/ #.
Utilize optical simulation and design CAD software to create concept and assess feasibility, and then able to optimize and finalize the design in terms of (but not limited to) photon collection efficiency, field of view, beam quality/resolution/MTF, distortion, aberrations, blooming, stray light scattering, mechanical tolerancing sensitivity, thermal stability, manufacturability, etc.
Design and detail laser optical precision diagnostics sub-systems.
Drive design completion regarding both optics and optomechanical fit & precision, prototype procurement, assembling, trouble shooting, and verification on performance vs. design
Cooperate w/ optics outsource vendors and overseas manufacturing partners on design/material/process optimization & DFM and drive quality control to enable volume production
Good team player, collaborative with other functional engineers to complete projects in a fast-paced R&D and NPI environment
Qualifications:
MS with 5 years experience of optical system design
*Open to new grad with PhD related to optics!*
Intimate knowledge/use of Optical CAD: Zemax (preferred), Code-V/LightTools, etc.
Proficiency with Python, Cython, C/C , Matlab, etc.
Ideal candidate would have experience with novel optical system development
Experience with laser sources & photodetectors are a big plus
Preferred, but not required:
Publication record
Involvement in patents
Prestigious engineering universities
PhDs
Mixed, diverse project/work experience (engineering disciplines, theoretical and experimental work)
Laser/Optics/Lab experience
