Summary:
As an OR Circulator Nurse, you will be responsible for providing compassionate care to patients while incorporating current knowledge with established nursing practices. The ability to work well under pressure, follow directions quickly and efficiently, and deal with co-workers in a courteous and cooperative manner are essential.
Education & Experience:
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Must hold a current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Florida and be familiar with the basic nursing performance standards outlined in the Nurse Practice Act
- Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing
- Must have a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must have an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or be willing to obtain one within three months of employment)
- Must have Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (or be willing to obtain one within three months of employment)
- Knowledge and experience in perioperative care of the surgical patient
- Familiarity with patient rights and the legal implications of nursing actions
- Understanding of facility and nursing policies and procedures, as well as the function of other areas within the facility
- Knowledge of facility and departmental fire safety regulations, electrical hazards, disaster plans, and infection control policies and their application
- Ability to recognize symptoms of cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, and other impending crises and initiate necessary emergency action
- Knowledge of anesthetic agents and related medications and their usage and effects on the surgical patient
- Knowledge of specialized equipment
- Ability to act as a team player by collaborating, communicating clearly, and cooperating with other employees to focus on the mission and goals of the organization
- Responsible for keeping up-to-date with continued education and facility in-services
