A top accounting consulting and advisory firm is looking for their next Managing Director to join their growing Accounting Advisory team. This Director will provide various accounting advisory services including, but not limited to, IPO and M&A Readiness, CFO Advisory, SEC Compliance & Financial Reporting, Transaction Advisory, Technical Accounting Research & Position Papers, and addressing the need for continuous improvement and optimization of the finance and accounting functions. In addition, the ideal candidate has a strong desire to build and maintain a book of business. To succeed in this role, you should also have strong coaching and team management skills, as well as the desire to mentor staff. The Director role does require business development/networking activity, as well.
The ideal candidate is an Audit Director out of public accounting or Audit/Advisory looking to transition to a normal work schedule and make an impact on day-to-day operations. If the candidate has a CPA and no experience working in public accounting but has progressive growth working for a consulting firm or the required skills as a CFO, that is also a great match. The Managing Director must have expertise in the healthcare industry, as they will be overseeing this vertical for the entire organization. Healthcare can include biotech/life sciences, as well.
This role is REMOTE but does require the candidate to live within driving distance of one of the following cities to go into the office 1 or 2 times a month or to visit with clients. Cities include: Boston, New York City, Tampa, Philadelphia, Tysons Corner, Denver.

Job Details
The Managing Director of Accounting Advisory position has primary responsibility of assisting with oversight over a service line and engagement team. As a leader of the firm, the Financial Reporting Managing Director will demonstrate excellent project management skills, client service, and positive coaching to the team members in developing technical and professional competency.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading the growth of the Advisory practice by partnering with Leadership in developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans in accordance with the firm’s mission and vision and the commitment to always act as a trusted partner to our clients.
- Elevate the company’s brand by demonstrating thought leadership and embracing our marketing and sales programs.
- Building national relationships to further expand the organization’s brand in developing business and revenue for the Firm. As a partner, the required revenue generation on an annual basis is $500,000.
- Lead and manage multiple concurrent engagements within the Accounting Advisory practice to provide technical accounting and financial or business advisory guidance to clients.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of complex accounting concepts to support Firm initiatives and development opportunities with internal knowledge sharing and panel discussions.
- Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the development and execution of the consulting work plan and client deliverables.
- Collaborate directly with firm specialists/subject matter experts on complex accounting matters
- Responsible for ensuring the engagement team has an in-depth understanding of the client’s business.
- Manage client product workload of all teams to oversee a minimum $2,000,000 in revenue to the Firm.
- Assist in other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Thrives in an environment of changing priorities.
- Ability to work towards enhancing technical and project management skills through on the job feedback and performance evaluations.
- Interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster client relationships.
- Above average written and verbal communication skills.
- Have an understanding of the services offered by the Firm, look for opportunities to represent the Firm, grow the client base and increase brand recognition.
- Recognizes opportunities for learning by pursuing challenging assignments and a hunger to become and expert.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
- Active CPA
- 12 years of relative accounting experience; public accounting or professional services experience highly preferred.
