Fantastic opportunity to join a full-service Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, and Land Planning consulting firm located in Gig Harbor, WA. The Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)/Project Surveyor will manage small to large projects including research, complex boundary and construction calculations, evaluation of field work, and drafting of projects in a CAD environment. This position will work directly with the Principal Land Surveyor to accomplish daily tasks. Establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with agencies, clients, and contractors is key to the success of this position.

- This position will work out of our Gig Harbor office, but there may also be the option to work remotely once established with the company.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for PLS work on Plats, BLA’s, ALTA/ NSPS surveys, as-builts, shoreline boundaries, right-of-way determination, and boundary and topographic projects for design.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
- Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
- Direct or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on legal deeds and titles.
- Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
- Washington State PLS and LSIT with minimum 5 years of experience.
- Ability to understand required work to complete survey tasks in a PLS capacity.
- Able to prepare construction calculations under the supervision of the Principal PLS.
- Understanding of GPS and acceptable accuracy standards.
- Work with the Engineering and Planning departments for a successful project.
- Position requires working mostly forty-hour weeks with occasional overtime or weekend projects
- Valid Washington Driver's License
- Occasional Field work may be required.
- Strong knowledge of writing and deciphering legal descriptions is required.
- Ability to communicate and outline to field crews on project needs and staking.
- Ability to manage time, track budgets, perform field work associated with construction and boundary work
- Upon hiring, must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test, if requested, and have a clean driving record
