Job Details

The Safety Manager maintains safety policies and procedures, safety compliance auditing, incident investigations, safety goals and tracking/reporting of safety metrics as part of the continuous improvement of the Company’s SEMS program.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, revise, implement and enforce safety policies and procedures for the protection of all employees and contractors, and to maintain compliance with all safety regulations applicable to company assets
• Participate in the management of HSE training that is provided to employees and contractors, through third party vendors and company-specific internal training occasionally
• Manage contractor safety through the use of ISN and auditing of contractor safety programs occasionally
• Monitor compliance of regulations and procedures through the team’s compliance technicians frequently
• Manage and participate in incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions to be taken occasionally
• Report on safety trends and statistics occasionally
• Manage and participate on the ‘on call’ HSE team occasionally
• Assist with moving safety and compliance culture forward by implementing new and existing initiatives.
• Assist in responding to and investigating safety-related INCs (Incidence of Non-Compliance)
• Participate in industry work groups to represent the company and achieve positive outcomes for the company in work group deliverables.
• Manage Compliance Technicians and Safety Coordinator

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a safety or engineering related field (safety emphasis required)
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent accreditation preferred
• In-depth understanding of safety regulations and guidance of BSEE, USCG, OSHA and API, as related to onshore and offshore assets required
• 10Y experience in a corporate safety environment with increasing responsibility
• Experience managing 5 to 10 safety or HSE professionals simultaneously
• Proven leader as Safety Director or Safety Manager with at least 5 years at a corporate level in an upstream oil and gas company, preferably operating offshore in the Gulf of Mexico
• Ability to produce high quality procedures, policies and reports
• Strong background in investigation and root cause analysis
• Excellent organizational and motivational skills
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to effectively manage personnel located in remote locations
