Job Description
We are currently seeking a Director of IT Applications to provide leadership and guidance to our application staff. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of our information systems and software applications. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing our existing systems and applications, as well as identifying and implementing new solutions to meet our organization's needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and directing the application staff of the IT department.
- Developing strategic plans for the application aspects of IT.
- Coordinating and supervising activities related to the design, development, and implementation of information systems and software applications.
- Maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications.
- Ensuring effective communication, problem-solving, and best practices are applied to the development team.
- Managing the development and deployment of new applications and enhancements.
- Researching and recommending software products and services for procurement and development efforts.
- Collaborating with stakeholders and conducting feasibility studies for software and system products.
- Ensuring compliance and functional requirements are met during software integration.
- Coordinating with analysts, designers, and system owners to test new software programs and applications.
- Identifying budget requirements and developing business strategies for the application group.
- Liaising between the enterprise and end-users, vendors, contractors, and consultants.
- Coordinating with other departments to deliver timely solutions to end user departments.
- Supervising the IT staff responsible for application deployment and maintenance.
- Maintaining a highly skilled workforce and developing training programs.
- Assessing business trends and management needs, while managing expectations of the business units.
- Building and maintaining partnerships with customers to understand their priorities and information requirements.
- Proactively applying technologies to improve business processes.
- Providing guidance on system technologies and implementation requirements to business unit customers.
- Collaborating with customers and other IT groups to develop system plans.
- Ensuring 24/7 support for application infrastructure and customer support.
- Maintaining an optimal applications operating environment and facilitating staff training on upgrades and new releases.
- Establishing processes for issue diagnosis, status tracking, and escalation.
- Improving support efforts and increasing product availability and scalability.
- Planning for future products and customer requirements.
- Managing budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
- Interacting with senior management on matters concerning various functional areas and customers.
- Responding to customer issues and ensuring availability of applications.
- Mentoring and challenging staff, leading application projects, and promoting a positive work culture.
- Taking accountability for the work of application teams and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Demonstrating self-motivation, proactiveness, and solution-oriented thinking.
- Acting as a primary point of communication between IT Applications and business units.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Providing leadership and upholding organizational core values.
Experience Required
- Extensive management experience in directing CUH Applications, including financial, clinical, IT, and ERP applications.
- 8 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Program/Project Management, personnel management, application support, and life-cycle management.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic plans for leveraging technology investments.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
License/Certification Requirements
- Preferred certifications: Project , PMP, ITIL
