The Community Outreach responsibilities include: acting as liaison between the school and the community in the development of internship opportunities (paid and unpaid work experiences) for JAG students. The Coordinator works with the school principal, teachers, students and the WorkOne Center staff to identify internship and job placement possibilities for students.
The Post-Secondary Transition responsibilities include working to ensure college visits, FASA completion, college applications and matriculation of JAG graduates from the high schools to college and other post-secondary programs. Serve as a resource to provide support for JAG graduates and their families as these student’s transition from high school to college and/or other post-secondary opportunities throughout the one year of follow-up (e.g. workforce, apprenticeship program, etc.). The Coordinator will work closely with students, parents, school counselors and staff, graduates/alumni and post secondary admissions counselors.
DUTIES:
Work with JAG students to find employment and internship opportunities during high school and after graduation for the year of follow-up (tracked) and beyond.
Establishes ongoing partnerships with, businesses and industry, organizations or community agencies to strengthen student learning and community engagement within the JAG schools.
Assists in the development of community service activities for JAG students to educate the community regarding the JAG program.
Works with all school personnel and the staff at the WorkOne Centers, to coordinate employer contacts and resources.
Provides technical assistance for all areas of career and employment for in-school JAG classrooms and out-of-school JAG alum during their year of follow-up and beyond.
Coordinates guest speakers and field visits for JAG class and individual JAG students. Assists specialist with scheduling and coordination of volunteer opportunities for students within the community
Provides JAG Specialist with internship, employment and mentor data monthly to be included in the e-NDMS data entry system.
Participates in school-wide special events and family nights (example: Open Houses)
Maintains communication with mentor organizations, employers and community organizations
Develops a schedule of monthly events for JAG students including workshops with college admissions staff as guest speakers, apply for financial aid and scholarships, completing college applications, writing the essay and scheduling college tours.
Understand and explain the college admissions process to students
Create awareness and appreciation for college within the high schools
Stays in contact with and track graduated seniors as they pursue their post-secondary options
Attends team meetings, open houses, job fairs, college fairs and recruitment events.
Prepares monthly, quarterly and end-of-year activity reports to be sent to DWD
The JAG Coordinator will be responsible to work with JAG Specialists to ensure that:
All JAG sites report 20% of class time spent on field trips/guest speakers each month
85% of seniors will have a pin and complete the on-line FAFSA by April 15th
85% of seniors will have completed two post-secondary applications by May
85% of seniors will have taken the ACT or SAT or other post-secondary assessment or certification assessment by May
100% of JAG sites will participate in a college fair by April
100% of JAG sites will have visited a college campus by May
All JAG students will register and have a resume in Indiana Career Connect
All JAG students will register and complete the three Career Exploration assessments in Indiana Career Explorer
All data will be reported accurately and timely in the eNDMS data base system
Reviews all data reports from DWD with the JAG Manager to ensure data is accurate and program is on target.
Pulls data for all reports that need to be compiled and submitted ensuring all deadlines are met.

I. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Associates Degree or Higher
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
Must possess valid Indiana Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
Previous experience working with high school students highly desirable.
Knowledge of regional community; previous marketing and/or sales experience is a plus.
Be creative, organized and able to work independently
Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, students and their parents.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Have a desire to work with a diverse population to help them achieve their higher
education and career goals
Have a working knowledge of the financial aid process and scholarships
Ability to provide a variety of services for clientele regarding education, employment, and life-support, including referrals, counseling sessions, and follow-up sessions.
Working knowledge of standard office procedures, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks, and operations.
Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and ability to conduct public presentations and prepare detailed written reports as required.
Ability to properly operate standard office equipment, including computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copy machine, and telephone.
Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.

II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK:
Incumbent performs a broad range of duties involving complex and complicated considerations and problems. Incumbent operates within very general guidelines and rules which require adaptation to address specific cases and circumstances.
III. RESPONSIBILITY:
Majority of incumbent’s duties are assigned in terms of general objectives and results, with potential problems anticipated and addressed in terms of departmental policies. Incumbent’s performance contributes to departmental programs and operations by making decisions based on the objectives and policies of the department. Work is reviewed for overall impact on departmental policies and practices.
IV. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other JobWorks departments, various community organizations, social service agencies, educational institutions, various employers, clients, and the public, for purposes of exchanging/information, explaining/interpreting policies, and providing instruction to others.
Incumbent reports directly to the Regional Program Manager.
V. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbent performs duties in a standard office environment, involving sitting and walking at will, sitting/standing/walking for long periods, keyboarding, close and far vision, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly. Incumbent occasionally works extended hours, evenings, weekends, and travels out of town for meetings and workshops.
