What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Joeris General Contractors, Ltd.?
Reports to: VP of Pre-Construction
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Salaried Exempt
Normal Working Hours – Office Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday
You Will:
- Effectively solicit and communicate with subcontractors and suppliers through the complete bid process
- Effectively collaborate and coordinate with Architects, Engineers and Operations Team
- Accurate quantity surveys and costs for estimates
- Foster subcontractor/client relations
- Manage project solicitation efforts
- Attend or coordinate pre-bid conferences as needed
- Delegate and/or develop quantity surveys and costs for estimates
- Develop project turnover package(s) and effectively present to the operations team
- Develop risk factors and ensuring they are properly evaluated by the team
- Continually add feedback on construction cost database
- Perform constructability reviews throughout preconstruction
- Lead the company s defined preconstruction processes during all phases (CM@R & Hard Bid)
- Visit projects on a monthly basis and solicit feedback about estimate and actual project cost, including self-perform
- Travel as necessary to assist with bids
- Participate in industry and subcontractor events/lunches
- Assist Director of Pre-Construction with the development of department standards, templates, and samples

Your Education and/or experience:
- Bachelor s degree in Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering, or Economics
- Minimum 2 year(s) industry experience
Your Skills to Utilize:
- Experience with estimating hard bid and CM@R projects
- Team collaboration
- Proficiency with estimating technologies, including Timberline, OST, SmartBid
- Strong organizational and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret project documents, including plans, specifications, RFP, RFI, etc.
- Proficiency in the use of Excel spreadsheets
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work within a deadline and under moderate pressure
