What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Seal Repair Technician position at John Crane?
- With assistance, identifies and inspects material returned. Records information on designated forms.
- With assistance, evaluates from condition of material, current drawing revisions and product knowledge whether material is restockable or repairable. Receives assistance from Sr. Seal Repair personnel or supervisor when needed.
- May perform simple operations on engine lathe drill press (single spindle), tool post grinder, bead blast polisher and lapping machine.
- Verifies part specifications with measuring instruments such as micrometer, vernier caliper, dial indicator and optical flats.
- May initiate purchase orders for new job orders if vendors are involved.
- Consults with Engineering department or Sales departments as necessary.
- Works from factory work orders, prints, rework orders and verbal instructions.
- Performs contract lapping - at times rebuilds pumps, etc.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may vary based upon individual branch requirements.

The Individual
- Requires high school education or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret simple drawings
- May require ability to make simple arithmetic calculations using decimals, fractions and/or metrics
- 1 year of previous related shop experience preferred
