As a hydraulic field technician your impact is two-fold:
  • For the customer, your goal is to build hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical assemblies on time and to our customer’s specifications.
  • For the team, your goal is to maintain an organized, efficient, and quality centric work area. You’ll be responsible for documenting, communicating, and verifying needs and information; collaborating with other team members and departments; and coordinating activities to ensure an excellent customer experience.

This is a long-term, career-growth oriented position, and as such, the compensation package we’re offering is competitive: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour (based on 2 – 3 years’ experience) to start and includes opportunities for you to quickly maximize your earning potential through training, experience, our ESOP, bonuses, and professional development programs.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment using various electrical multimeters, gages, hand and power tools to diagnose problems and determine corrective procedures; inform customer of problems and receive repair approval.
  • Disassemble and repair pumps and components by replacing work or damaged parts, and test run equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Read and understand hydraulic schematics, general arrangement drawings, etc. for troubleshooting and equipment assembly.
  • Measure clearances, tolerances, and dimension of parts with micrometers and calipers to ensure critical components are assembled to specifications.
  • Design and install new or specialized equipment on site, including specific operating voltage, air system installation, structure fabrication, and securing foundation.
  • Assemble hydraulic components into customer’s power units with necessary tubing or hoses, and test as required.
  • Discuss proper installation and operation of new equipment with customers and perform preliminary start up checks to ensure operating requirements are met.
  • Responsible for service van which includes maintaining product inventory in van; ensure routine maintenance is performed on vehicle as scheduled or required.
  • Responsible for managing expenses and reporting per JHF policy.
  • Complete service call report to document problems identified, repairs made, parts used, etc. and submit to service coordinator for processing and billing.
  • Instruct customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on customer’s equipment to reduce breakdowns.
  • Control, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste such as solvents, oils, etc., in accordance with EPA guidelines.
  • Attend factory technical schools for certification purposes in order to perform warranty repairs and start up new equipment.
  • Use welding equipment and cutting torches to fabricate metal as needed.
  • Comply with all US Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Perform building maintenance such as piping, painting, equipment service, etc. as required.
  • Other ad hoc duties as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Relevant associate degree (or equivalent experience) from a college or technical school preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 – 4 years of maintenance experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Ability to apply judgement and deal with problems involving standardized situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to interpret instructions (written/verbal) and work orders, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work while meeting productivity standards.
  • Ability to build and maintain great working relationships with other team members.
  • Must have and maintain a current driver’s license and acceptable driving record and be able to obtain forklift certification.
