WHO WE ARE SEEKING
Responsible for inventory control and cataloguing furniture and decorative art objects. Duties include unpacking, identifying, labeling, weighing, measuring, and storing inventory received from consignments. Researches inspects, and creates catalogue entries. Performs data entry for all fine art property and turns over proofed text by the assigned deadline. Assists with sale set-up, preview, and sale day activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:
· General detailed cataloging including property inspection & research
· Ensure all fine art inventory has a catalogue entry in the database
· Ensure any and all relevant literature references, provenance information or other supporting documentation is entered and well-organized
· Edit and proof catalogue text
· Assist with catalogue layout and ordering the sale
· Prepare condition reports
· Coordinate and track authentications & restorations
· Assist in the mechanics of catalogue production, as needed
· Assist photographers in locating property for shoots
· Assist with processing photo appraisals, as needed
· Work with specialists to ensure formulaic property entry to minimize required cataloging changes
In addition to the above essential job functions, you may be assigned other responsibilities by a supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 1-2 years’ experience cataloguing and/or researching furniture and decorative art objects
· Outstanding organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
· Experience working with art objects a plus
· Excellent attention to details
· Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple deadlines, and to work with a variety of personalities
· Ability to work independently and within groups to see a project through to competition
· Excellent word processing skills including MS Word, Excel and, Outlook
· The ability to adapt to new programs as required
· A second language is a plus
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Work Enviroment
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment that involves in-depth research within a team environment. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional overtime, evening, and preview weekends. Must be present during sale day.
