The CNC Lathe Setup/Programmer will contribute to our success by executing the following tasks on multi-axis CNC Lathes and/or Swiss CNC Lathes:
- Create the CNC machining program and tool sheets for new parts and sets up more difficult repeat jobs to hand off to an operator.
- Fully document order of operations, program and tool sheets while maintaining them in an organized electronic filing system.
- Set up preliminary runs to verify accuracy and retrieve feedback from operators for process improvements.
- Accurately reads and understands blueprints and engineering drawings to ensure proper setup requirements, sequence of operations, dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product which may also assist in the quoting process.
- Provide recommendations to improve production methods and best use of equipment and tooling.
- Contact tooling application engineers to test new technology to improve production rates.
- Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner. Observes safety rules and company policies and holds assigned employees accountable to them.
- Mentor other machinists and perform other duties as assigned in a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
**Outside Training on new equipment or software will be offered and encouraged.
Required Experience:
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must possess:
- At least eight (8) years machining experience with four (4) years of multi-axis machining.
- Experience in lights out machining a definite plus.
- Ability to understand blueprints and engineering drawings with knowledge of basic algebra, geometry/trigonometry concepts along with an understanding of geometric tolerancing.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: frequent standing and walking; frequent kneeling; bending; lifting or moving up to 20 lbs; occasional lifting or moving up to 75 lbs.
- Strong safety, quality, and teamwork orientation with track record of dependability.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Mastercam or Solidworks software a plus.
