Controller/ Accounting Manager

Overview

The Controller will:

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions (AP, AR, collections, GL account reconciliations, and process month-end close).
• Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results on a GAAP basis of accounting.
• Coordinate activities of external auditors for both tax returns and financial reviews.
• Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.
• Manage the budget process by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data.
• Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
• Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database as needed.
• Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
• Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
• Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
• Hire, train, and retain skilled accounting staff.
• Be responsible for payroll and associated tasks.
• Oversee the pricing management for the company, ensuring that prices are accurate and entered timely and that the process is effective and efficient.
• Oversee the company’s business insurance program, with the goal of having the most cost-effective package possible, while ensuring that all risks are sufficiently covered.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Required

• Accounting Degree plus 10 years of relevant experience, including supervisory role
• Prior experience in all aspects of accounting, payroll, and ERP administration
• Management experience
• Financial software experience
• Experience developing standards and policies and procedures
• Auditing, accounting, and/or corporate finance experience
• Financial and analytical skills
• Continuing education
• Excellent computer skills, experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and other systems knowledge
• Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation
• Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and GAAP
• Ability to multitask effectively
• High organization skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
• Extensive oral and written communication skills
• Ability to sit without leaving work area for extended periods of time
• Ability to restrict time off during peak work periods
