Sawmill Laborer

• $16.50 an hour to start if no experience
• 50 cent raise with good attendance in the first 2 weeks
• Four 10 hour shifts. Monday - Thurs. Fridays and weekends off.

The tailsawyer position sorts and stacks rough sawn lumber into racks based on size. Attention to detail is critical. The tailsawyer makes sure that each piece of lumber that goes into a rack meets a certain spec learned during training.

If you enjoy minimal interruption and prefer NOT to work with customers, this is the job for you. Your position is located on an assembly line, so good attendance is mandatory. If one piece of the production line is missing, it affects the entire team. You will be given a raise after 2 weeks if you don’t miss a day. The job location is in a non-temperature controlled three sided building. You get holidays and weekends off. Pay day is every Friday.

The job is very physically demanding. You must be able to slide 10-75 lbs repeatedly from a moving table to a rack for 10 hours. You get a paid 30 minute lunch break. JFP has a sawmill and mulch manufacturing division. The sawmill makes lumber for pallet manufacturers, wood chips for building materials, sawdust for animal bedding, and raw material for landscape mulch. The mulch manufacturing division turns raw material into bulk mulch that will improve soil conditions, improve landscaping aesthetics, or improve safety of local playgrounds.

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
