The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center (JHBMC) is an approximately 450 bed academic medical center in the Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) with full-time faculty affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM). The hospital provides state-of-the-art care that is focused on individual patient needs, diversity, innovation, and caring for the community. The beautiful urban campus offers an array of nationally renowned services in geriatrics, rheumatology, and is home to the region’s only burn center. The hospital is designated a Level I Trauma Center, a Level IIIC Perinatal Referral Center, and the regional Burn Center. JHBMC also features the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, prioritizes teaching, research and patient care. The Department is responsible for providing acute-care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical, surgical, geriatric, and critical-care patients. The Department also provides ambulatory services, including clinical pharmacist services in primary care, anticoagulation, smoking cessation and oncology clinics with infusion services for a variety of specialty areas. In addition, the Pharmacy Investigational Drug Service provides support for the distribution of Institutional Review Board approved studies.
Under general supervision, is responsible for the efficient and accurate provision of pharmaceuticals, supplies, and drug information according to established standards of practice. Duties may be performed in one or more areas of the Medical Center, including Patient Care Areas and the Pharmacy. Assumes responsibility for all drug distribution, clinical, educational and research activities regarding rational and cost effective medication use in the assigned area(s) of practice. An overarching requirement is the ongoing development and maintenance of Professional Interactive skills.
