Position Summary:
The Security Supervisor/Sergeant will provide leadership and guidance to Protective Services Officers, Security Officers, Information Desk Staff and Volunteers. Assists in supervising the activities of an assigned shift.
- Provides appropriate supervision to ensure all officers, staff and volunteers to ensure proper performance. Assists in the performance of security related duties, as required.
- Responds to all critical incidents occurring on campus. Verifies that all appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines were followed. Utilizes experience, training and knowledge to resolve security and/or customer service issues.
- Work with the officers, staff and volunteers to ensure professional appearance and operational readiness on a daily basis.
- Continually inspect post to ensure coverage and appropriate conduct of officers and staff.
- Ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained and inspected on a daily basis.
- Initiate and supervise preliminary investigations.
- Maintain appropriate documents relevant to shift activities, time records, overtime, training, schedules, personnel action forms, post orders, etc.
- Oversee training and roll calls to provide relevant information to the officers in order to maintain a high level of performance. Tracks the completion of required training programs.
- Work with the officers, staff and volunteers to prepare performance plans and evaluations.
- Instruct the Manager or Director on all matters that impact the shift, such as on-campu/off-campus crime, on an as-needed basis.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Work hours:
- Full-time, 40 hrs per week
- 8am - 4pm, weekend work required
Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent
- 1 year related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Excel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to maintain a MD State Police security clearance
