Johns Manville is currently looking to hire a Corporate Environmental Manager. This position is at our Denver headquarters, but could also be FULLY REMOTE or based in other locations, with preference for northwest Ohio/southeast Michigan, eastern Tennessee, or northern Georgia. The Corporate Environmental Manager will be responsible for: ensuring JM manufacturing facilities are in compliance with applicable environmental regulations, identifying and implementing programs that improve factory environmental performance, communicating environmental issues and progress to all levels in the company, mentoring and developing factory environmental staff. This position is accountable, along with plant managers, for eliminating or reducing factory environmental violations, tracking factory performance metrics, renewing, and amending environmental operating permits, leading the development, implementation, and renewal of air pollution control permits and implementing new programs to address emerging regulations.
Applicants can expect to make between $109,000 to $150,000 upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for a target incentive bonus under our variable incentive plan.

Your Day to Day:

  • Develop and implement environmental compliance systems, management systems, and programs for JM's factory operations
  • Represent the company with federal, state, and local agencies for permitting and compliance issues as required
  • Provide regulatory guidance for all environmental media to manufacturing facilities and ensure that compliance systems are adequate to track, document, and manage compliance with same
  • Review all major capital projects and provide environmental impact assessments as needed
  • Actively audit factory environmental performance for JM locations and ensure that audit findings are addressed and corrected where appropriate
  • Provide regulatory guidance for all environmental media to manufacturing facilities and ensure that compliance systems are adequate to track and document compliance status
  • Effectively communicate the environmental goals, objectives, performance expectations, and metrics throughout the organization
  • Mentor, train, and develop JM factory environmental employees
  • Heavy travel required, up to 40%
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental management, natural sciences, engineering or a related field,
  • Minimum of 8 years in implementing and managing environmental programs and initiatives in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement environmental compliance systems, management systems, and programs for JM's factory operations and employees
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and lead group environmental management programs for the JM's businesses to ensure full compliance with regulations and company requirements
  • Solid knowledge of emission inventory development, air permit applicability analysis and Title V permitting experience.
  • Comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations relating to air, water, solid waste, and hazardous waste management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and develop JM factory environmental employees
  • Ensure seamless implementation of developed systems while partnering with leadership for JM's business environmental activities
  • Solid leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a diverse team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Remediation experience
  • Master's degree
