What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Operations position at Johnson Bixby?
This position provides director-level support to the CEO as well as project management and leadership for all entities. This person must be engaging and inspiring, yet humble in their work with individuals and teams. Working closely with the CEO and CFO/COO, and partnering with other leaders in HR, Marketing and other operations, this role will help develop and support the company’s organizational infrastructure as well as take on many facilities-related management tasks. This person must be able to ask and answer critical questions, inspire and support team members, evaluate work, and learn and adapt quickly. This is a full-time leadership position and will report directly to the CEO. The Director of Business Operations will serve on the ELT with the CEO, CMO and COO/CFO for our Ripple Companies:
- Johnson Bixby (JBA), a financial planning firm
- Integrated Tax Services (ITS), a tax planning and preparation practice
- The Difference, a personal style consulting and women’s clothing boutique
- The Ripple Space, rentable conference space
In addition, the Director of Business Operations will be tasked with the project management of closure
of the Mill Plain Shipping Center in 2022.
Essential Duties Include:
Ripple Companies:
- Actively work to relieve the CEO of various responsibilities in project and facilities management.
- Create a closure plan for Mill Plain Shipping working with the CEO.
- Manage contractor/vendor relationships required to support the operations of the Ripple Companies.
- Serve on the ELT team in coordinating integrated operations that move the company toward goals.
- Manage various special projects as they arise.
- Review contracts for clarity and provide recommendations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Bachelors’ degree. Minimum 7-10 years related experience in operations and management. Experience in high level leadership and/or management roles.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
