What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Construction Inspector position at Johnson Engineering?
Job Summary: Senior Construction Inspector of various Land Development projects including commercial, residential, industrial, medical, and institutional developments along with their associated roadways, pedestrian facilities, drainage, and utilities. Daily travel required within Southwest Florida area. Company vehicle provided.
Essential Duties:
• Observes work in progress to determine whether construction procedures followed, and materials used, are in reasonable conformance with plans and specifications.
• Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of installations and layouts for roadways, parking lots, drainage, and utilities.
• Reviews plans and construction staking for ADA compliance.
• Verifies alignment and elevation of infrastructure installations to confirm it’s being installed per plan location.
• Interprets plans, specifications, and contract documents and communicates requirements to clients and contractors.
• Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.
• Track progress and quantity of construction work items.
• Perform and document testing of certain construction work items as defined in the contract documents.
• Reviews project plans for land development projects and provides comments on potential construction conflicts and provide feedback to engineers.
Qualifications:
• Construction experience is required in roadway, drainage, underground utilities.
• Pay will be commensurate with experience level.
• 10 years of experience preferred.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Must have an excellent driving record, be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Florida driver’s license.
