Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Accounting Assistant position is to provide support for all accounting functions as necessary and delegated to ensure the proper function of the Finance Department. The position requires strong communication skills and organizational skills.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Accurately codes and inputs account payable invoices into the financial reporting system, verifies check approval, and prints checks on an as needed basis to ensure JHC does not pay service charges.
- Abides by the internal procurement policy to ensure proper invoice approvals.
- Accurately updates and maintains vendor database within the financial reporting system.
- Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
- Inputs cash transactions into the financial reporting system.
- Maintains historical financial records by filing and/or scanning documents.
- Processes staff reimbursements.
- Maintains staff Continuing Education balances.
- Monitors and inputs company credit card transactions in the financial reporting system.
- Delivers daily deposits to the company’s financial institution.
- Assists in the preparation of 1099 reporting.
- Assists in month-end and year-end processes.
- Assists in the annual financial audit.
- Provides assistance and support to company personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Staff will abide by the Code of conduct as documented in the Corporate Compliance Manual.

- Graduate of a two-year Business college preferred with a minimum 2 years’ experience in a business office or accounting department; high school diploma required.
- Must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills and computer experience including, but not limited to Word, Excel, and database functions.
- Must possess strong communication skills and work well with external organizations and staff.
