The Associate Director, Neuroscience Data Science and Technology Portfolio Integration is responsible for coordinating and communicating opportunities for advanced technologies and methods to add value to Neuroscience programs; and for integrating data science, digital technology and other measurement approaches into Neuroscience translational and clinical development strategies and processes. Areas of focus include new patient populations, novel outcomes measures, and integration of external data. They will do this through excellence in business planning, coordination and leadership; and by partnering closely with the Head of Neuroscience Data Science and Digital Health. They will possess a high degree of curiosity, innovation and creativity, financial awareness, and entrepreneurial spirit; and a passion to leverage data analysis in problem solving and insightful, strategic decision making. The Associate Director will report to the Vice President, Portfolio Strategy and Data Science Integration.
Essential Functions:
- Partners closely with the Head of Neuroscience Data Science and Digital Health and their team to manage the Data Science and Digital Health portfolio and its integration into Neuroscience clinical programs. Acts with strategic agility, understanding big picture, translating business concepts into short- and long-term deliverables, managing ambiguity and decision making. Identifies critical risks and assumptions, to manage mitigation planning. Solves sophisticated problems through data analysis and interpretation.
- At the portfolio level, liaises with Disease Area leaders to ensure that Neuroscience Data Science and Digital Health strategy is defined, reviewed, communicated, refreshed, and aligned with TA strategy. Provides strategic input, and maintains a high degree of expertise on the internal and external environment in order to routinely analyze potential impact. Helps to develop insightful messaging for Business Planning, governance and JRD senior management reviews. Provides transparency, reporting, risk mitigation and forward planning to Neuroscience leaders and Data Science and Digital Health teams and their stakeholders.
- At the program level, acts as a thought partner for Compound Development Teams and functional partners to facilitate evaluation of the clinical, regulatory, value and commercial impact of Data Science and Digital Health opportunities on Neuroscience programs, in areas focused around new patient populations, novel outcomes measures, and integration of external data into translational and clinical development plans. Ensures that these plans are aligned with Disease Area strategy, have a clear value proposition, and a plan that will deliver defined outcomes that will accelerate or optimize delivery of patient-focused, promotable drugs. Ensures operational excellence in the end-to-end execution and delivery.
- As a member of the Neuroscience Strategic Portfolio Integration Team, works closely with team members to lead or participate in cross-TA initiatives to identify pipeline opportunities that are aligned with TA strategy, and drive business processes that foster optimal decision making in our organization, in order to optimize the portfolio for strategic growth and value creation. May participate in in strategic and technical prioritization and reviews of licensing candidates.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, with at least 9 years relevant work experience, OR a Masters degree with at least 6 years relevant work experience is required, OR a PhD with at least 4 years relevant work experience is required.
- Experience with data science and digital technology and/or pharmaceutical R&D, and/or Neuroscience experience is preferred.
- Direct experience utilizing biological Data Science to drive outcomes is strongly preferred, for example biomarker research, clinical trial feasibility, real world evidence trials, or digital healthcare solutions.
- Big picture orientation with solid attention to detail is required.
- Collaboration skills and the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships is required.
- A results and performance driven focus with solid sense of accountability is required.
- Self-motivated, with a high level of comfort with operating as an independent worker in an entrepreneurial environment is required.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex scientific, portfolio and financial information and develop actionable insights are required.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate, consult and communicate effectively in a global matrix environment, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of hierarchy, regardless of authority is required.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $135,000 to $232,300. The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

- Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
