The Lifecycle Engineer II will support and lead product lifecycle design projects, complex technical tasks, and engineering process improvements. As critical members of our Operations team, Lifecycle Engineers actively support and sustain production at Abiomed by working with Engineers, operators, and suppliers to strengthen our ability to manufacture and deliver high quality, life-saving devices.

The Lifecycle Engineer II will support and lead product lifecycle design projects, complex technical tasks, and engineering process improvements. As critical members of our Operations team, Lifecycle Engineers actively support and sustain production at Abiomed by working with Engineers, operators, and suppliers to strengthen our ability to manufacture and deliver high quality, life-saving devices.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop test methods to conduct characterization and engineering testing
- Perform mechanical, fluid, vibration, thermal, reliability, and systems analyses in support of root cause analysis of current designs and proposed design improvements
- Collaborate with Production Teams to conduct engineering builds in our production environment to support design and process qualification
- Support and lead design for manufacturing projects and manufacturing automation projects
- Assist fabrication of prototypes with support from technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and suppliers
- Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFM)
- Address field and manufacturing complaints through failure investigation of returned product, and analysis of production workstream metrics
- Prepare design reviews and present to peers and review team
- Organize and communicate project plans and status using software tools (MS Project, MS Powerpoint, Wrike, etc)
- Lead project team meetings and provide technical direction
- Manage self for timely completion of tasks per plan with support from supervisor and senior team members
- Continuously improve failure investigation processes to enhance accuracy and decrease investigation time
- Identify and establish new approaches and procedures
