Are you an outstanding researcher or process engineer with a deep knowledge of protein biochemistry and purification? Are you interested in applying your expertise to advance novel biotherapeutics aimed at addressing the most difficult disease challenges? We at Janssen are looking for a highly motivated Scientist to work in a fast-paced R&D environment applying thorough scientific principles towards state-of-the-art downstream process development.
Responsibilities will include
- Designing and independently executing individual studies to optimizing process steps to the target process scale up.
- This will include laboratory and occasional pilot-scale scale chromatography and filtration.
- The candidate will work with the development team to design development studies and is expected to independently execute the study, to identify and determine appropriate conditions and ranges of critical process parameters for chromatographic purification & separation and several types of filtrations.
- The candidate will record and analyze experimental data, verify data integrity and accuracy, and report/summarize findings to the project team, and draft technical documents.
- The candidate may also be asked to assist in the technology transfer to collaboration partners. He/She/They is encouraged to work in a team environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timeline and objectives.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- A minimum of a BS with 15 years of experience; an MS with 12 years of experience; or a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field with 6 years of experience is required.
- Experience with protein purification and characterization combined with an excellent understanding of therapeutic proteins is required.
- Experience with AKTA systems, HPLC and Automation is preferred.
- Previous experience with depth filtration is preferred.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) is highly preferred.
- Exposure to analytical method development for in-process methods is preferred
- The candidate must be highly organized and capable of managing/pursuing multiple studies with some supervision
- Good written and verbal communication skills are required
- Experience maintaining written records of work in the form of electronic notebooks is required.
- Some experience with writing technical reports and protocols is strongly desired
- Data reporting, ability to present findings to peers and development teams is a must.
- Experience with team-based collaborations is a must.
- Occasional weekend work may be required
