Position summary: Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a part-time Archaeological Field Technician to assist with Phase I and Phase II archaeological investigations. Additional work may be available after this project is complete. A bachelor’s degree in anthropology or a related field and prior experience in all phases of archaeological investigation are required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States. Successful applicants will be considered for anticipated long-term projects in the region. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Lodging (individual hotel room) and per diem will be provided. Mileage to and from the project, project area, and drive time will also be compensated. Rate based on experience, and number of hours per week will be based on project workload.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- The qualified candidate for this position will assist Project and Senior Archaeologists during Phase I-II field work throughout the country, with preference given to local projects. The candidate will aid in identifying any pre-contact or historic artifacts encountered during STP or test unit excavation. Preference will be given to candidates that will be available as on-call employees through the fall with the potential for continuous work based on available contracts. Potential full time work may also be available.
