JMT Technology Group is looking for a GIS Manager to lead and continue the growth of our geospatial and information technology practice in the Utilities market. The ideal candidate will have strong utilities experience managing tasks and staff, and a passion to devise and implement geospatial and information technology solutions in the utilities space. The GIS Manager will collaborate with regional directors, project managers, technical staff, marketing staff, and subject matter experts throughout JMT to broaden our customer base, as well as maintain relationships with our existing customers. The GIS Manager will also be responsible for engaging with business partners to enhance and strengthen relationships by facilitating activities that will result in positive revenue growth.
Job Responsibilities
Provide project planning and oversight for:
GIS data creation, editing, and maintenance per project requirements
Creation, implementation, and execution of quality assurance and quality control plans
Field data collection solutions and coordination with field staff
Creation of high-quality cartographic products
Assemble, manage, and provide oversight to a team of GIS professionals including supervision of direct report(s) and mentoring of junior staff
Support the development and rollout of strategic and tactical business plans for utilities solutions and services
Collaborate with regional directors and other vertical market leads to build a pipeline of new business in the utilities market
Work with management, technical, and marketing staff to identify, develop and implement information technology solutions that meet customer needs
Maintain thorough knowledge of the utilities market, emerging technologies, and the competitive environment to expand JMT's GIS services and solution offerings
Lead utility technology proposal development that speaks to the client's needs, concerns, and objectives and participate in pricing the solution/service including working with the client
Participate in business development by attending and presenting at industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information to the team on market trends
Use knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop unique selling propositions and differentiators in collaboration with the marketing team. Develop a thorough understanding of the company's people and capabilities as it pertains to utilities
Promote efficient and effective ways to execute GIS tasks
Utilize GIS to perform complex geospatial analysis related to utility projects and presents results in a format that is clear and concise
Read and interpret maps, survey documents, engineering drawings, as-builts, design plans, and sketches
Required Skills
Ability to plan, organize, and execute GIS-related tasks efficiently and effectively while meeting customer requirements
Knowledge of geodatabase administration principles and demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geodatabases
Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding objectives and goals
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
Ability to build relationships and quickly develop trust in all levels of an organization
Problem solving and consultative skills
Must be self-driven, motivated, and results oriented
Must be able to travel to client sites, other JMT office locations, and to industry events in the U.S.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in GIS, information technology or related field
Minimum of five years of utilities information technology and experience with utilities clients
Minimum of five years leading tasks that pertain to geographic data development, maintenance, analysis, and custom geospatial applications
Preferred Experience
Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification
Familiarity with GIS-centric Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and experience in developing GIS integrations with those systems
Working knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, versioning, attribute rules, and ESRI's Utility Network
Institute of Asset Management Certificate (IAM) or equivalent
Project management experience
PMP certification
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
