About the Role:
Under general direction, collaboratively plans, helps develop, and edits routine to moderately complex marketing content across social, email, and website (blog) channels for Johnson Outdoors’ Camping and Watercraft brands – Eureka!, Jetboil, Old Town, Ocean Kayak and Carlisle. In collaboration with marketing team(s), coordinates digital assets/marketing content and brand requirements to support building the brands and targeted campaigns. Coordinates content/editorial calendars and projects which include the flow of content from ideation to development to publishing in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors/agencies.
What you will be doing:
- Acts as an outdoor enthusiast with a pulse on the business, serves as a strong business advocate, and ensures results are successful and linked to business initiatives.
- Plans, coordinates, and maintains content plan/calendars (may include editorial, graphics/photos, videos, events) for Camping and Watercraft brands. Tracks project tasks on content calendar holding regular meetings with stakeholders to review status and identify needs. Uses data analysis to inform plans and optimizations to plans and strategies.
- Builds and manages the content library and inventory (including from vendor/partner feeds) that can be accessed and used/localized by the field.
- Writes, ghostwrites, edits or repurposes content for multi-discipline use across a wide variety of channels (websites, social media, email marketing).
- Coordinates the production, launch, reporting, optimization, and retirement of digital assets, primarily to support targeted campaigns but also for evergreen digital assets.
- Supports and engages with brand ambassadors to ensure formats, methods and content are appropriate and on brand. Partners with the Brand Evangelist to develop message track for ambassadors.
- Assists in reviewing current content processes and may make recommendations to improve corporate guidelines/standards for consumer-facing content that is used by the brands.
- Assists in performing return on investment analysis, monitoring KPIs /Google Analytics, and reporting to the business against goals. Performs content gap analyses to determine what type of content is missing and what is needed.
- Supports experiential marketing, trade shows, events and public relations activities.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or equivalent is required. A minimum of 2 years of related marketing experience, which includes experiences writing, editing, and coordinating content.
- Demonstrated ability and skills in creating, delivering and effectively using marketing content to connect with and motivate audiences.
- Ability to identify and transfer digital content across different digital platforms.
- Experience in digital content planning, ideation and execution. Ability to recognize current and future trends in digital content and platforms and act proactively.
- Demonstrated understanding of general marketing fundamentals and how to maintain brand standards.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal teams and external vendors.
- Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize work.
- Skills and ability to coordinate projects which includes gathering ideas, managing the timeline, resources and budgets as well as performing an evaluation on the project’s effectiveness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SEO, keyword research, social media, and Google Analytics.
