Sterilization tech

Position Summary

• The Sterilization Technician is a key member of the Orthodontics department, where the primary duty will be functioning as a Sterilization Technician.
• The Sterilization Technician will work independently to ensure instruments used for procedures are clean / sterilized and working properly.
• The goal is to optimize flow so patients are provided with high-quality care.
• The Sterilization technician must wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, masks; and utility gloves while sterilizing and follow specific company and OSHA procedures when handling hazardous materials.

Cleanliness above all is essential. Punctuality and a professional demeanor at all times are required.

Perform all duties with excellence. Properly sterilize and pack all instruments and equipment under department policy. Perform all opening, closing, and maintenance procedures described in the sterilization and maintenance policies handbook.

Restock and maintain an inventory of sterilization supplies and instruments to ensure a constant level is always available.

Communicate to the lead assistant and ordering personnel any supplies that need replenishing or replacement. Maintain order and cleanliness in the sterilization area and toothbrushing area.

Perform mandatory weekly spore testing and maintain a log for records. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of Autoclave.

Restock all stations daily with supplies needed. Maintain laundry (lab coats and towels) along with taking trash & recycling out.

Seat patients, assist clinical assistants, set up and tear down patient chairs between patients. Other duties may include participating in team activities, replenishing patient education material and JLO swag, and community involvement events.

Compensation : Starting at $18 / hr.

• Must be a Registered Dental assistant
