Utilities Technician
Third Shift

Position Overview:
This position ensures the proper maintenance and operational status of all plant Refrigeration, Boiler, Wastewater and associated utility systems and equipment in the Johnsonville - Holton facility. Affected equipment includes the plant Refrigeration system, Boilers, HVAC systems, plant water and wastewater distribution system and support systems that are utilized by the plant.

- Assist in maintaining company and government programs and equipment (PSM, HAZMAT, Storm Water, Spill Prevention) that keep our members, community, and environment safe.

- Drive continuous improvement and root cause analysis in your business through the analysis and research of parts needed for work/repairs, utilizing the Parts Inventory and Work Order systems, and other CI tools.
- Stretch and grow in your personal growth and be a good team member by assisting in other areas of the plant as assigned by the Department Coach.
Qualifications (What you bring to the job):
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Industrial Refrigeration, Wastewater and/or Boiler field with solid skills in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. Skills with PLC’s are desirable.
- Must have at a minimum a Class I Operator and RETA Certification or obtain certification within 1 year. A Class II certification desired.
- Must have at minimum a Class 1 Kansas Wastewater Certificate or obtain certification within 1 year.
- Completion of an Industrial Ammonia PSM course and Certification desired.
- Willing to travel off-site for additional training and certification as required.
- Ability to understand P&ID’s.
- Understanding of PSM regarding Compliance Guidelines and Requirements.
- Experienced in reading Blueprints and Schematics.
- Assist with system Projects and related maintenance.
- Must become a Member of the Emergency Response Team and be able to pass a Respirator Fit Test and Physical.
- Must be properly groomed / shaved and able to wear a Respirator as required.
- Computer skills in Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint and SAP.
- Available to work overtime as required.
- Candidate should be teamwork oriented with good communication skills
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in all weather conditions inside or outside a plant environment with animal’s present, subject to heights.
Physical Demands:
Able to work on rough terrain in all weather conditions and lift 70lbs. unassisted. Full range of body motion required: standing, kneeling, and upper body twisting.
