The Planner I is responsible for taking a Descriptive Approach to supply chain problem solving, optimization, and will be managing a high volume of purchase orders and low-to-moderate volume of demand management and moderately difficult inventory optimization activities.

Position responsibilities:

Purchase Order Management:

  • Provide forecasts, expediting lists, and communicate other tactical requirements to suppliers
  • Review and execute purchasing activities to align with strategic, opportunity, or other operations plans
  • Create, maintain, and manage all aspects of purchase orders from creation to close while maintaining a high level of timeliness and data accuracy
  • Purchase order placement must balance the capacities and efficiencies for the distribution centers, transportation companies, and suppliers
  • Maintain data integrity for all planning/purchasing data for designated suppliers

Exception Monitoring and Expediting:

  • Coordinate, expedite, and monitor deliveries of purchase orders
  • Maintain data, date, and transactional accuracy for all supply elements (purchase orders, transfers, etc.)

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Participate in SKU maintenance activities across the network including activities such as ABC ranking settings and product life cycle settings within the systems, including obsolescence
  • Perform routine audits of systems and reports to ensure the highest level of performance and accuracy and identify problems, root causes, and implement solutions
  • Utilize and create reporting, benchmarking, and analysis techniques to ensure accuracy of data, performance, and efficiencies of processes
  • Utilize and create reporting and analysis to identify, communicate, and drive continuous improvement activities across the organization
  • Monitor and manage KPI related tasks and serve as a back-up for other team members

Continuous Improvement / Learning / Training:

  • Participate in department or company training activities
  • Actively lead or participate in process and continuous improvement, testing, and standardization opportunities utilizing formal project management tools
  • Support cross-functional teams on the day-to-day execution of projects and initiatives
  • Maintain all system planning/purchasing tools and documentation
  • Collaborate in a structured professional way with multiple departments with different goals and agendas
  • Complete special projects or assignments as requested

Communication/Collaboration:

  • Provide detailed actionable communication for all processes, KPI, business rules tailored to the respective audience
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with all partners and departments to resolve problems, improve processes, enhance accuracy and efficiencies

Position qualifications:

  • Progress or completion of a Bachelors (BA/BS) degree, with preference given to a specialized degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the supply chain field in a distribution or manufacturing field
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ERP experience required (Infor SX.e preferred but not required; Eclipse)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, get work done, meet deadlines, and attention to details.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data and business knowledge to solve problems
  • Ability to approach work with a strong sense of urgency
  • Skill in developing effective working relationships with individuals from different organization levels
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Formal project management skills are preferred
  • Has the ability to assess current processes and work with others to drive continuous improvements
  • Demonstrated intermediate level of use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.)
