We are hiring an experienced Electrical Field Safety Coordinator in Lubbock, TX to grow with our company.
Jomar Contractors is looking for a Safety Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others and an interest in safety. This position is responsible for providing a communication bridge between the onsite workers, the management team in accordance with providing instruction, inspection, training, leadership, coordination between onsite managers and/or office management, ie Safety Director, VP of Operations. In matters of safety an/or production with the emphasis and expertise in construction/electrical safety.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of two years of experience in a construction setting
Knowledge of construction safety procedures and best practices
OSHA 30 Construction Certification (preferred)
CPR - Current First Aid Certification (preferred)
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English accurately
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum 2 years of safety construction experience, CHST minimal certification preferred or equivalent.
Can be a combination of safety training, education, and relevant work experience that is equivalent. Knowledge of aerial certification with regard to Bucket rescue, pole top rescue, ground testing, hot stick testing, tracking rubber goods service dates.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
Strong organizational, record-keeping and follow-up skills a must.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
Ability to be self-motivated, be proactive, and be an effective team player
Responsibilities
Conduct regular walk thorough safety audits / inspections of construction areas, provide forklift, lull, scissor and boom lift training as required.
Assist in identifying, documenting, and recommending mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made
Assist with investigating incidents, injuries, and property damage, including compiling data, taking photographs and completing proper documentation
Assist with compiling data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents
Issue various safety equipment / inspect returned safety equipment as needed
Assist in emergency procedures as required
Assist in maintaining fall protection and trenching systems, other safety systems as needed
Conduct Job Hazard Analysis for specific tasks and focus on field hazard recognition/correction
The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position
Willing to day travel to out-of-town construction sites such as Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, North Texas, and any other areas as needed with compensation for travel and lodging.
This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the needs of the site and safety/field management varying by location, within the business unit or as instructed by the Safety Director or their liaison.
General work environment – sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
Conduct daily job-site safety audits and provide safety expertise in response to all identified deficiencies and request for safety assistance with emphasis on electrical safety as outlined by NFPA 70E.
Updating, and continued upkeep of training certifications of employees assigned to the regional office, including high voltage, HPS and construction.
Scheduling of training classes or refresher courses as approved by Corporate Safety Director
Handling and upkeep a of the Safety Management Portal, in regards to employee safety training, certifications, stand-downs, and weekly safety meetings.
Compliance with routine contacts with ISN Networld and Veriforce datebases.
Jobsite walkdowns / complete observations reports on a random basis.
Maintaining the PPE inventory for the region and ordering through the main Corporate office as needed.
Training of LOTO, Hazcom, Silica, fall protection and trench safety.
Oversight and training employees on Forklift, lull and skytrak equipment.

Pay: $48,500.00 - $65,000.00 per year
