What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custom Metal Fabrication Estimator position at Jones Sign?
We have one opening for a strong and experienced Estimator to join our team.
This position can be based in the office, hybrid or remote based on experience level.
Position Summary:
As an Estimator for our major projects and architectural team, you will have the opportunity to create cost projections for some very cool projects, such as professional sports venues, casinos, and convention centers. Using your construction knowledge and resourcefulness, you will dig into bid documents, blueprints, and conceptual drawings to create a project estimate. Throughout the process, strong communication and relationship building are needed as you interact with the sales, production, and purchasing teams.
Our most successful estimators thrive in our high-octane, fast-paced environment, yet have the ability to stay cool, calm, and collected while faced with unique challenges each day. Additionally, they are comfortable with ambiguity and regularly use assertive communication skills to ascertain the appropriate products to estimate.
What it takes to excel:
- 2 years of project estimating experience, including both materials and labor for custom fabrication.
- Experience in the sign industry is a plus.
- Sound business acumen and understanding of what drives company profits.
- Ability to read and comprehend architectural blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Proficient computer skills. Program usage will include but is not limited to Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, and the company’s ERP system.
- Consult with owners, contractors, vendors, and project managers to develop and communicate estimates.
- Advanced time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well independently and/or within a team.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
