What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Assistant position at Joseph Farzam Law Firm?
General Accountabilities
- Mails or faxes legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, and court officials.
- Receives and places phone calls.
- Organizes and maintains law libraries, documents, and case files.
- Makes photocopies of correspondence, documents, and other printed matter.
- Assists attorneys in collecting information.
- Maintain attorneys’ calendars with hearing dates, filing deadlines, depositions, and other dates of importance.
- Submits state and US Federal Court Case Management/Electronic Case File (CM/ECF)/PACER system, including submission of electronic filings.
- Drafts and reviews legal correspondence including thoroughly proofreading for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
- Assists with preparation/revision of correspondence, pleadings, discovery submissions, arbitration/mediation documents in state and federal matters.
- Handles a wide variety of complex and confidential, time-sensitive material.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (strongly preferred).
- Experience: 3-5 years of law firm experience, preferably in personal injury and/or employment law.
- Superior legal research and writing skills.
- Knowledge of service deadlines for various litigation tasks, including familiarity with the California Code of Civil Procedure.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of state and federal courts and agencies.
- Bilingual (strongly preferred, but not required)
