Cast/Foundry Supervisor
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR PURPOSE OF JOB:
Lead the foundry operations to meet or exceed goals for all team metrics including outcount, safety, quality, on time delivery, cost, inventory accuracy, training, employee morale (ESM) and lean initiatives. Plan production, determine manpower and equipment requirements, order consumables, establish team priorities and sequences, and successfully execute the production schedule.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in decisions related to the selection, promotion, transfer, pay and discipline of assigned personnel.
- Clearly communicate job duties and responsibilities to enable individuals to proceed with certainty in the performance of their positions.
- Monitor team’s productivity, quality, and adherence to production standards/SOP’s ensuring team is successful including assisting team members with functions during peak hours and or due to absenteeism.
- Monitor the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis; conduct effective performance reviews; take corrective action whenever necessary and, where necessary, work with HR Generalists to establish performance improvement plans.
- Support the development of assigned personnel’s skills & abilities and demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of conduct (Jostens values) and work performance.
- Identify and resolve skill gaps and succession issues.
- Be a champion and lead by example for safety in every aspect of Jostens safety policies for all employees
- Administer Company policies with regard to discipline, absenteeism, etc., in a fair and equitable manner, and fully document all incidents and actions taken.
- Involve assigned HR Generalist on compliance issues such as pay equity, equal opportunity in hiring and promotions, and proper procedures for hiring, terminations, lay-offs, etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS: Note that (i) computer literacy and working-level skill with the basic MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Edge), (ii) good verbal and written communication skills, (iii) good interpersonal skills, and (iv) the ability to work well both individually and in a team environment are default requirements for all Jostens exempt and salaried nonexempt employees.
Required:
- Analytical and organized problem-solving/critical thinking skills
- Previous supervision experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in production floor management
- Must be able to read and accurately interpret order related documentation
- Must be able to visually check product for compliance with quality standards and customers specifications
- Must be able to understand departmental processes and order flow, and tooling, as required by department.
- Previous manufacturing experience
Preferred:
- Prior experience running a cast/investment operation, preferably in a jewelry manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of MS Access, AS400
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Experience with implementation of continuous improvement, process improvement, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma standards of operations.
