JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Production Support Engineer in Application Support, you will use your creative and critical thinking skills to maintain crucial application systems and collaborate with teams on various projects.

You will gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and improvement while developing professionally and growing your career in any direction you choose.

Job responsibilities

• Manage day to day issues including daily health checks of applications and processes, working closely with end users, development staff and Infrastructure teams, to prioritize and resolve and / or mitigate outages.
• Ensures information controls, back-up and recovery strategies are in place across all environments.
• Implement continuous process improvement, including but not limited to policy, procedures, and production monitoring.
• Help in identifying, coordinating, and implementing initiatives / projects and activities that create efficiencies and optimize technical processing.
• Develop and maintain relationships with technical staff, end users and clients.
• Carefully evaluate alternative risks and solutions before taking action to provide timely resolution.
• Data analysis of issues and reporting to Production support and Development leadership.
• Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages and skills as needed.
• Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Ability to influence and drive change.
• 3 years of hands-on experience in Production Support / Engineering or Application Development roles.
• 3 years experience with distributed applications (AWS, UNIX, Linux, Java with cloud, Java servlets and JSP, Spring, Hibernate, SOAP, web services, mainframe etc.).
• 3 years of experience in Cloud support, Perl, Python, Ruby or similar scripting languages.
• Strong analytical & trouble shooting skills required.
• Experience in Disaster Recovery planning and test execution.
• Knowledge of Splunk, Datadog, and Dynatrace.
• Experience supporting mission-critical platforms / applications in financial services industry is desired.
• Experience in a client facing role (external or internal).
• Strong knowledge of applicable business areas, the supporting technology.
• Basic knowledge of application development.
