JPMorgan Chase's Corporate Art Team is seeking a professional with experience in Art Collections and Gallery Systems support where you will be reporting to the Head of Operations and Collections Management.
As a Registrar Sr. Associate you are responsible for the location tracking of the global inventory of the JPMC Art at Work collection. In addition, you will work on a global scale, providing reports for internal partners and arranging all aspects of shipping. Locally, responsibilities include assisting the curatorial staff, working closely with the operations team, business manager and scheduling external trucking and installation. As the Registrar you will manage the TMS (collections) database and coordinates between hosting services, technology, and TMS users.
Job responsibilities:
- Acts as liaison between TMS users and Gallery Systems support. TMS project manager/tech support.
- Work with vendor Gallery Systems on ongoing upgrades to system, including reorganization of Location Authority and training of new users
- Provides monthly TMS report of art relocations.
- Enter appraisals into TMS.
- Assist curators with TMS reports.
- Generate loan forms and organize loans to external institutions.
- Receive reports from Global Real Estate on de-commissions. Check against active TMS locations, investigate art moves as needed.
- Execute condition checks of artwork for curatorial staff and update data and images.
- Coordinate art shipments globally with fine arts shippers and customs brokers.
- Appropriately assess risk, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding JPMChase & Co. , its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Role requires occasional days working off-site, potential off-hours work during installations, some domestic travel and possible international travel.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Experience and knowledge of the Museum System/TMS database
- Proven experience in collections management and record keeping.
- Professional museum archiving and registration expertise with deep knowledge of standards and best practices.
- Art handling familiarity.
- Solid understanding of commissions and contracts.
- Ability to follow detailed instruction and specific protocols to maintain safety of artwork and co-workers.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, and handle several competing initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience managing projects, people, and budgets.
- Desire to w work in a fast-paced environment.
