The Controller is responsible for providing high-level support to the company’s accounting and financial activities. Their duties include producing financial summary statements, closing the books on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, leading staff to accomplish accounting and financial tasks, ensuring internal financial control processes are followed, up to date and complete, and working with the entire finance team to ensure processes, systems and people are all leveraged to provide a first class accounting organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly close timelines, check lists and processes to support a quick, accurate and efficient closing of the company’s books on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and accounting / reporting systems
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
- Creating financial statements for clients as well as upper management
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports
- Identifying solutions to discrepancies in financial records
- Work with external auditors to conduct annual audit
- Assisting CFO with budgeting
- Assisting with billing and tax documentation preparation
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
- Maintain knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Create and document standard operating procedures for book close, annual audits and overall internal financials controls.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Prior experience in a CPA firm is a plus
- Prior experience in retail or manufacturing is required
- 7 years’ experience in job related role showing progressive growth in responsibilities
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Detail-oriented focus with ability to manage multiple competing objectives
- Ability to work autonomously balancing input from multiple stakeholders
- Experience successfully building, leading, and managing teams
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
