Description:The Supervisor MRI performs MRI procedures as prescribed by the medical provider and provides technical expertise and assistance to support ancillary personnel. Responsible for coordinating and supervising department activities including budget development, equipment quality control and maintenance, magnet safety, inventory, ordering supplies, staffing, tech competencies, addressing image quality, training team members, and performance improvement. This position is also responsible for assistance in hiring, supervising and evaluating staff. The Supervisor is responsible for all functions on a 24/7 basis.
Typical Duties:
- Works with the MRI Medical Director, Radiology Medical Director, MRI Safety Officer, and physicist to develop and maintain MRI scanning protocols and MRI departmental policies that reflect ACR, the Joint Commission and all other regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Ensures patient procedure and supply charges are correct.
- Ensures all MRI technologists, radiologists, and ancillary staff are in compliance with the appropriate annual MRI Level of training CBL. ?
- Responsible for MRI staff development, training and education.
- Ensures MRI staff compliance with standards of regulatory and accreditation agencies.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the department/modality to include staff scheduling, call schedule, and PTO coverage.
- Responsible for oversight of MRI technologists screening of all patients and individuals entering Zone 3 for ferromagnetic objects.
- Ensures proper performance of equipment and notifies Bio-Med and Radiology Manager if equipment requires repairs or downtime.
- Coordinates preventative maintenance downtimes with staff, scheduling, and ancillary departments.
- Responsible for patient scheduling and throughput for MRI, ensuring patients procedures are provided in a timely manner.
- Provides oversight of ensuring the performance of daily crash cart QA by designee.
- Participates in a QI, QA, QC activities with documented outcomes.
- Oversees the quality control program, ensuring full compliance with appropriate state, local, and federal regulatory agencies, while following manufacturers guidelines, and assists in statistical data gathering as required and assists in developing and/or identifying QA/QI issues.
- Demonstrates continued commitment of professionalism and growth.
- Develops and maintains relationships with physicians, nursing, ancillary staff, outside agencies, hospital staff and patients.
- Performs key supervisory responsibilities including, but not limited to: MRI safety, performance evaluations, evaluating technologist competencies, addressing provider concerns, obtaining/maintaining accreditations, assist in hiring of team members, oversight of ordering supplies, ensuring and addressing image quality to meet the standards of accrediting organizations (AO), Kronos for time and attendance, and monthly staff meetings.
- Provides oversight of venipuncture competencies for MRI staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
