About the Open Position
GHSP, a global technology organization, is currently looking for a Financial Analyst to join our team in Michigan. Hybrid work options available.
Value of the Role:
The Financial Analyst supports the Controllers of the Grand Haven and Hart locations by performing accounting and reporting for Plant Operations. Each quarter the Financial Analyst will coordinate, with the Controller of Operations, the specific results, improvements, or accomplishments required to support GHSP and departmental objectives.
Valuable Job Functions:
Assists the Controllers with the plant planning, forecasting and budgeting process. Assist the Controllers with the long and short term financial planning and budgeting for Grand Haven and Hart locations. Support includes sales, cost of goods sold, production labor and departmental expense accounts.
Update Daily Reporting. Responsible for Daily Sales Reporting. Run shipment transaction detail for both the Grand Haven and Hart plants by 3:30pm daily and tie out to the General Ledger detail. Values are to be loaded in each of the plant’s daily sales detail file along with the daily sales report and follow up on discrepancies as appropriate. The Financial Analyst will prepare daily cost reporting including scrap, downtime, run rate and efficiency variances.
Temporary Payroll and updated General Ledger. Ensures temporary employment payroll is entered weekly, accurately and timely.
Weekly Financial Results for Grand Haven and Hart Operations. Preparation of weekly results key measurables for the Grand Haven and Hart plants. Compiles weekly sales, cost of goods sold, expense accounts and assists the Controllers to identify unexpected items. Preparation of monthly financial data according to plant operation needs.
Maintains PTR (Problem Tracking and Resolution) System. Review, maintain and update PTR (Problem Tracking and Resolution) system. Responsible for reviewing general ledger transactions in QAD, the premium freight log along with other systems as required. The Financial Analyst updates the cost section of PTR system for both Grand Haven and Hart facilities. Review PTRs and contact appropriate GHSP employees for PTR documentation and approval. Ensure PTR’s are updated in the system and ready for review at monthly meetings.
Involvement in month-end activities. Support the 3-day month end closing requirement by assisting the Controllers with assigned duties in a timely manner. Prepare and enter necessary accruals for area of responsibly and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned. Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and prepare analysis, review and support for all entries.
Accurate and timely processing. Work that is processed by the Financial Analyst should be done in a timely manner when at all possible. Work should be reviewed after processing to ensure accuracy. The expectation of the Financial Analyst is to share knowledge and feedback of the process, streamlining where applicable within the team environment.
Participates as a member of the Finance Team. Participates in ongoing development, practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Finance Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues. Actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Participates as a member of the Plant Operations Team. Actively participates in all appropriate team meetings.
