Role: Sr. Business Intelligence Specialist
Location: Indianapolis, IN - Remote
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in promoting the utilization of technical services to address business issues, providing technical support, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in business intelligence. This role involves strategic planning, developing technical standards and policies, and collaborating with various teams to meet business and technical needs.
Responsibilities:
- Promote the use of technical services to resolve business issues within the enterprise, agency, program area, or division.
- Provide technical support on complex business intelligence projects and perform as a Subject Matter Expert in the business or functional area.
- Participate in strategic planning processes for the Data Visualization/Business Intelligence team.
- Assist in developing technical standards and policies to meet the needs of customers, peers, and management.
- Recommend and facilitate quality improvement efforts.
- Serve as a project leader, providing guidance, advice, supervision, and training to other analysts.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with data visualization-based agencies to help them meet their business and technical needs.
- Collaborate with Data Science, Public Health Geographics, Data Engineering, Data Management, Data Surveillance, Outreach & Equity, and Data Governance teams.
- Participate in the Business Intelligence Center of Excellence steering committee related to data governance and visualization best practices.
- Assist the Data Visualization/Business Intelligence team with dashboard development as needed.
- Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as required.
Required Skills and Experience:
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SAS/R, and Excel.
- Experience with data cleaning and automation using SAS/R, Python, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated experience in data manipulation, including cleansing, standardizing, and transforming data.
- Extensive knowledge of statistical software, open-source programming languages, and database querying.
Project Management and Analytical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of software engineering process tools and project management theories and practices.
- Ability to apply project management knowledge effectively.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to use logic and critical thinking to address issues efficiently and effectively.
- Understanding of change management methodology and its alignment with project management and implementation.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead workshops or training sessions.
- Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Familiarity with data structures and relationships.
- Ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships with various teams and stakeholders.
